The holiday weekend made it a short week for most teams, but Carmel senior Sebastian Lopez still found a way to stand out.
This week’s #lohudsoccer Player of the Week had five goals and four assists in three games, but most notable was the timing of his key plays. Lopez scored the tying and winning goal in Monday’s 3-2 overtime win at North Salem, and he contributed to every goal in Thursday’s 4-0 win at Beacon with two goals and two assists. He’s been one of the most consistent scoring threats in Section 1 this season, a player that coach Keren Larkin calls, “a true forward.”
Other notable candidates for the week included Irvington’s Matt Casadei, Hen Hud’s Aidan Datene, Peekskill’s Oswald Annang and Arlington’s George Pogyo.
