Irvington’s Scott Eisland scored with four minutes remaining to give the visiting Bulldogs a 2-2 tie with Bronxville on Tuesday in both the teams’ season opener.

The goal completed a comeback from a two-goal second-half deficit. It came off a throw-in from fellow senior Jon Goldreich about six yards from the goal line.

Senior Ben Ovetsky started the turnaround with a goal four minutes earlier.

“Once that first goal happened it was like new life,” Irvington coach Pat DiBenedetto said. “We started to get some momentum and the guys put their thoughts into action.”

Bronxville’s Sam Aherne staked his team to a 2-0 lead midway through the second half. Henry Carmel assisted on the goal after opening the scoring just 13 minutes into the game.

“On the road, playing our first game, it could’ve gone sour pretty quickly,” DiBenedetto said. “Hopefully, it’s a good indication to where we’ll go this season.”

Best of the rest: Briarcliff’s Phil Nasrallah scored and also assisted on Marco Christiano’s winning goal in a 3-2 season-opening win at Westlake in the first round of the Mount Pleasant Cup… Valhalla’s Danny Vargas scored the lone goal in the second half of the Vikings’ 1-0 win over Pleasantville. They will host Briarcliff in the Mount Pleasant Cup championship game on Saturday… John Jay-East Fishkill dismantled Panas 9-0 in its season opener.
