Team preview: Fox Lane

0

The goal for the 2013 Fox Lane team is simple: Make it into the postseason. The Foxes have struggled mightily in recent years and failed to make the Class AA playoffs again last season, so there’s only one way for them to go. They are bringing most of their top players from last season back, so we should see some signs of improvement. Enough wins to qualify for sectionals would be a step in the right direction.

Here is coach JR Pouncey’s outlook for the upcoming season:

What was your final record last season and where did you finish in the playoffs? 2-13.

Who are your key returning players? 2012 All League Selections: Owen Azrak, Junior, Defender and midfielder (great skill and ball winner); Andrew Harrison, Senior, Midfield (great skill and ball winner).

Who are the key players that you lost to graduation? None.

Are you anticipating losing any players to the U.S. Soccer Federation season? Not from last year.

What do you consider to be your team’s strengths? Solid defense and ball winning in central midfield.

What are some areas of concern? Attack and finishing.

Which formation do you anticipate using? 4-2-3-1.

What is your goal for your team in 2013? Make the playoffs.

Who is your biggest rival(s)? We consider all teams we play equal.
